WELCOME TO SMOKEY TAILS

Smokey Tails, the cult ‘Beats & Eats’ pop-up created by Seth Troxler (international DJ), Jo Vidler (Secret Productions) and Jona Ahearne (flavour technician and head chef) has made a permanent home in the heart of East London’s thriving food scene at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. The infamous smokehouse has landed back in London after a series of residencies in Melbourne, Sydney, Miami & Amsterdam. Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, the iconic music venue, has welcomed Smokey Tails into their restaurant as THE place to dine, drink, and dance in London's home of hip.

Known for our rich, deep, home styled BBQ flavours inspired by the home-cooked food Seth grew up with, Smokey Tails invites you to experience what we are calling ‘Midwest modern’. We're mixing the hearty family food we're have become known for with sharing plates, exotic salad combos, insanely good sides, sumptuous deserts and some not-so-old-fashioned cocktails. The dinner menu expands upon the pop-up's formula of dirty, delicious, finger-licking food that delves into Seth’s three generation old family recipe book, drawing on authentic Midwestern cuisine and creating a new world of fresh and honest grub.

Our brand spanking new 64 cover restaurant offers lazy lunches and Midwest Sunday Brunches (complete with Smoked Bloody Marys), with a snack menu of ‘hand to mouth’ food served throughout the adjoining bar area and the infamous slow and low dinner menu until late. You’ll be sure to catch Seth with his colourful friends, putting on some records, grilling on our outdoor BBQ, soaking up some rays and sipping drinks alfresco in our outdoor area. The restaurant’s wooden decked sun terrace overlooks one of London most iconic and leafy squares, famous for a long history of food, art and culture.

Seth brings the heart and soul to Smokey Tails. Every item on the menu is inspired by his childhood growing up in Detroit and the legacy of the secret Troxler family BBQ sauce recipe being passed down for generations. Not only a world famous megastar DJ, Seth also enjoys mixing things up in the kitchen and so when his beloved mum finally gave up the secret recipe, his passion for food grew and the idea for Smokey Tails was born.

Also known affectionately as 'Frodo' to his friends, Jona began his career as a 'professional party animal' with the Bearded Kitten team. Not just whirlwind of experiential genius, he also happens to be an excellent chef and is the powerhouse in the kitchen that delivers everything Smokey to your table. Working together with Seth in the kitchen is an experience in itself, as you can imagine, but that's just what Smokey Tails is all about.

Her unlimited creative brilliance gives Smokey Tails it's unique character of being not just a food brand. Together with the rest of the team she'll be working hard to be sure to bring you the best exclusive events across London, and beyond. 

 

 



 

THE SECRET TROXLER FAMILY BBQ SAUCE RECIPE

The Troxler family have a secret 120-year-old recipe for their special BBQ sauce that has been perfected by Seth's grandfather and passed down for generations. Eventually, the moment came when little Seth had to earn his rite of passage to become a true Troxler and the smokey secrets of the BBQ recipe were revealed to him.  

My mum is an incredible cook and I learnt everything I know from her. She finally gave up the family secret recipe for my grandfather’s BBQ sauce a few years ago and this really ignited my passion for cooking and led me to think about starting my own food venture. That’s when Smokey Tails was born.
