WELCOME TO SMOKEY TAILS

Smokey Tails, the cult ‘Beats & Eats’ pop-up created by Seth Troxler, Jo Vidler (Secret Productions) and Jona Ahearne (flavour technician and head chef) landed back in London in April 2016 after a series of residencies in Melbourne, Sydney, Miami and Amsterdam. 

The infamous smokehouse, inspired by the home-cooked food Seth grew up with and known for its rich, home styled BBQ flavours, permanently settled in the heart of East London’s thriving food scene at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, a venue already well-known for attracting a friendly mix of people from all walks of life, coming for delicious food, great drinks and a dynamic range of live music entertainment.

Our 64 cover restaurant offers lazy lunches, a snack menu of ‘hand to mouth’ food served throughout the adjoining bar area and the infamous slow and low dinner menu until late. 

We now also offer a Boozy Bottomless Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am - 2pm.

Music and food for me go hand in hand, they warm body and soothe the soul. With Smokey Tails I wanted to give people the same food that fed my soul through my childhood. We really wanted to create a place where I could share the food and spirit of my home and the recipes of my family.

Seth brings the heart and soul to Smokey Tails. The menu is inspired by his childhood in Detroit and the legacy of his Mom's family's secret 'Burton BBQ sauce' recipe which has been passed down for 3 generations. Not only a world famous megastar DJ, Seth also enjoys mixing things up in the kitchen and so when his beloved Mom finally gave up the secret recipe, his passion for food grew and the idea for Smokey Tails was born.

Also known affectionately as 'Frodo' to his friends, Jona began his career as a 'professional party animal' with the Bearded Kitten team. Not just whirlwind of experiential genius, he also happens to be an excellent chef and is the powerhouse in the kitchen that delivers everything Smokey to your table. Working together with Seth in the kitchen is an experience in itself, as you can imagine, but that's just what Smokey Tails is all about.

As one of the founders of award-winning festival, Wilderness and CEO of her own company, Secret Productions, Jo has a wealth of experience behind her - and a lot more to offer yet. Her unlimited creative brilliance gives Smokey Tails it's unique character of being not just a food brand. Together with the rest of the team she'll be working hard to be sure to bring you the best exclusive events across London, and beyond. 

 

 



 

THE SECRET FAMILY BBQ SAUCE RECIPE

Seth's Mom's family have a secret 120-year-old recipe for their special BBQ sauce that has been perfected by Seth's grandfather and passed down for generations. Seth had to earn his rite of passage to have the smokey secrets of the BBQ recipe were revealed to him.  

My mum is an incredible cook and I learnt everything I know from her. She finally gave up the family secret recipe for my grandfather’s BBQ sauce a few years ago and this really ignited my passion for cooking and led me to think about starting my own food venture. That’s when Smokey Tails was born.
